Volunteer – Education Guide

Description

Tuesday – Friday for 3 – 6 hours. 1 shift weekly. Get the training and support to be a stellar and impactful environmental educator, serving local PreK-6th graders who bring joy and fun on a field trip visit to our farm and wilderness space.

We ask that new guide volunteers shadow a few programs, before we offer a training and orientation to this volunteer experience. Please complete a Volunteer Application and Waiver.

We will be hosting an Open House at Hidden Villa for those who are interested in becoming a volunteer guide with Hidden Villa (choose one to attend):
  • Saturday, August 3rd (9AM-11:30AM) 
When you attend one of these sessions, you will hear from some of our existing guides and learn more about being an educational volunteer at Hidden Villa. You do not need to RSVP - just come to the one that works best for your schedule. 
 
Become a Guide
The official training for our Fall cohort of education guides will take place in January 2025; This will be required for all new guides. Please fill out this form to reserve your spot in the training. 
    • Module 1 (Intro to HV Education Programs)*- Tuesday, January 7th 9AM-2PM (Duveneck House)
    • Module 2 (Garden and Farm Animals Basics)*' - Thursday, January 9th 1PM-5PM (WEC)
    • Module 3 (Wilderness Exploration Basics) ** - Thursday, January 16th 8:45AM-1:30PM (WEC)
*required for all new Education Volunteers

All trainings will take place at Hidden Villa 26780 Moody Rd., Los Altos Hills, CA 94022 (refreshments provided, bring your own lunch).

Candidate Qualifications

We're looking for volunteers interested in sharing their love of the outdoors with students from all 9 counties around the Bay Area. Experience as a formal or informal educator is helpful, but not required. Being able to commit to a regular, weekly shift, is crucial in this role, though with advanced notice of vacations or time away, we can accommodate volunteers with busy lives.
