Centennial Celebration

Deep Roots, Flourishing Future

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

September 28, 2024

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

We are thrilled to welcome our esteemed guest speaker, Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer to celebrate our centennial. Dr. Kimmerer is a mother, scientist, decorated SUNY professor, and enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. She is a MacArthur fellow and the author of Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants.

Dr. Kimmerer’s vision unites ecology, food, intentional stewardship for the planet, and power of community, and speaks profoundly to the mission of Hidden Villa. Her background in science and indigenous wisdom speaks to the regenerative practices and sustainable modeling that we believe are the way forward for the next 100 years.

GARDEN RECEPTION

As guests arrive mid-afternoon, they will enjoy drinks, hors d’oeuvres, music, and mingling with friends in our beautiful and whimsical education garden setting. Food and drink will feature seasonal bounty from the farm.

FARM-TO-TABLE FEAST

We are honored to partner with renowned local Food and Sustainability Pioneer, Jesse Z. Cool. Jesse has been dedicated to sustainable agriculture and cuisine for over 4 decades as a chef, writer, restaurateur, spokesperson, and consultant for eco-conscious food and healthcare service. Alongside Chef/GM of Flea Street Bryan Thuerk, these renowned chefs will be collaborating with our farm team and Outstanding in the Field to create a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of food and community. Guests will join together at one long table to share a multi-course culinary journey through a family-style meal made from hyper-local ingredients bringing the best of what’s in season at Hidden Villa to your palate.

MUSIC & DANCING

The evening will culminate with a decadent dessert and lively dancing, a longtime tradition at Hidden Villa.

CHILDREN WELCOME

Hidden Villa is treasured by families and we want children and families to feel welcome and included in the celebration! Children’s activities will be led by our camp directors and provide participants with a sense of summer camp, partake in tasty food sourced from the farm, and make new friends. This program is for children between 5 – 12 years old.
