Jessica grew up in a small town in northwestern New Jersey. She loved growing up in a place where she could see deer, turkeys, bears, and other wildlife in her backyard, within an hour’s drive to New York City. Jessica found her way to Hidden Villa while also discovering environmental education. She worked in the field of environmental education for
almost 10 years at outdoor education schools, national parks, and school gardens. An educator at heart, Jessica has over 12 years of experience in communications, marketing, fundraising, and nonprofit management. Jessica first came to California as an Americorp VISTA at Self-Help Enterprises located in the San Joaquin Valley. Her journey led her to Hidden Villa, a place where she could weave her love for nature and deep concern for the environment and under-resourced communities. Some of her favorite things at Hidden Villa include seeing and hearing children experience the farm, walking through the 5-acre field to see what’s growing, visiting the sheep in the pasture, and hiking to Ewing Hill to look for wildflowers. Jessica’s favorite mission-related book is Remember: The Journey to School Integration by Toni Morrison.
