Hidden Villa’s Residential Internship Program offers an immersive and multifaceted experience and provides participants with the training, support, and learning experience needed to achieve career goals. We look for applicants who are dedicated to personal and professional development, are clear about how this program will support their growth, are willing to learn and grow alongside our staff, and can see themselves as educators, creating a ripple effect in the community.
People who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), People with Disabilities, People from the LGBTQ+ communities are all encouraged to apply for our Internship positions.
The internship program offers:
- Hands-on work experience as a place-based environmental educator
- Weekly workshops focused on building participant’s experiential education toolkit
- Mentorship opportunities from our staff
- Experience caring for garden spaces and farm animals
- Access to connect with program alumni
Interns gain valuable professional skills while learning, teaching, and leading our education programs which touch so many lives each year.
Professional Development
Every Monday the internship cohort will participate in Professional Development, planning programs, staff meetings, and mentor meetings. These days are meant to provide a holistic educational experience to our interns.
Housing and Stipend
Housing is provided for interns in our historic White House, a communal setting for 10 people. There is a combination of single and double rooms and common areas including a full kitchen, living room, and outdoor space. Responsibilities for house chores and upkeep are shared among the cohort. Eggs and produce from the farm are provided seasonally. In this unpaid internship role, a monthly stipend of $1,175 is provided.
Timing
Applications are no longer being accepted for the following positions:
- Environmental Education Intern I – Teach primarily school-based, TK-12th grade field trips. The schedule is Monday-Friday.
- Environmental Education Intern II – Teach primarily families and community members along with special educational events. The schedule is Thursday – Monday.
